People suffering from epilepsy experience limitations in everyday life. The German association “Sozialarbeit bei Epilepsie e.V.” (Social Work for Epilepsy) was founded to offer patients and their relatives competent guidance for all problems and questions they may have. This could be anything from concerns relating to general areas of life, such as everyday life, school, training, work or leisure, or the need for professional advice if patients continue to suffer from epileptic seizures or have additional impairments. The association supports the development of advice and information services as well as the continuous training of staff who work with people with epilepsy.
Education about epilepsy
One of the training measures offered is the symposium on social work for epilepsy, which took place for the 16th time in 2022 and has been supported by Hörmann for several years. At this biennial event, participants discuss a variety of current topics and issues related to epilepsy and exchange possible solution approaches. This will bring about long-term changes in guidance and education regarding epilepsy and help people prone to epilepsy along with their relatives.
