Having a say

With our language, we open doors both inwards and outwards. Learn more about what we mean by “having a say”.

Why is the deer in the forest? Yes, why?

People with intellectual disabilities asked about the deer in the forest at the association “Die Wortfinder” (The Word Finders). People of different dispositions and talents can ask surprising questions. To let them speak and have their say is a central concern of the association. Its publications prove how insightful, but also entertaining, the results can be.

Allowing and encouraging a say is often the key to more knowledge, also for teachers:

  • At the boarding school at Stein Castle, where secondary school students developed a learning programme regarding epilepsy.
  • In Bavarian schools, where students met people with disabilities whose everyday life was understandably unfamiliar to them up to that point.
  • In Lithuania, where experts are implementing a scientific learning programme for epilepsy patients.
